In response to the gay caller, Andy is spot on. For me personally, gay clubs are THE WORST. I think a lot has to do with where he lives? I live in the middle of Ohio, our closest gay club is a garish 1980s pit.

Finding his scene is a big part of it. His friends mean well but obviously not progressing at his speed.n The sooner the better. I was just like him at 19. I am 24 now and like saying I’m gay is not weird at all.

You don’t have to be the stereotypical gay!!!

I am in a totally different situation but I found that meetup.com helped me and my husband find a group of friends after we moved. I never thought that there would be groups in my area(because it’s not near a big city) but we found a group with similar interests.

The groups usually center around an activity or interest so maybe he can check that out. May not necessarily be a group specifically to meet other guys, but maybe just getting involved in other activities will lead to something.

I also liked it because it doesn’t seem shady like using craiglist or other websites to find out what’s going on in the area. Hope he keeps you guys posted!

I am going to college and that was the biggest step forward in coming to terms with the whole thing. I live in LA but I went to Irvine for school. I found great great friends who really made me feel comfortable with the whole thing. I can see that they have the best intentions and just wanted me to feel good, but I kinda just want to take it a little slower. Unfortunately, the costs got way too high and I had to take a semester off and enroll in CC classes. Even though I live in LA, my parents and the people I grew up with aren’t entirely comfortable with the gay thing. That’s why it’s a little harder for me to come out right now. Anyway, thanks for the advice Alex and Elizabeth and Andy! You guys are the best! :)
