Episode 84
Elizabeth and Andy talk through some wacky but true sex laws - did you know that in MA, a woman cannot be on top?! Then they dive into listener questions about potential jobs in the field of language, how to make each other feel extra special and loved after marriage, whether it’s okay to ask for cash instead of registering for wedding gifts, and lastly, how to handle a boyfriend who is jealous of your social life but seems to have no motivation to cultivate one of his own. Enjoy!

As a follow-up to the follow-up about not wanting to have kids. As someone who has never wanted children and who ended up having to have a hysterectomy due to a medical condition, just telling someone you can’t have kids does NOT end the conversation. They always suggest adopting even if you tell them you were never planning to have kids. This, of course, after they give you the head tilt and say how sorry they are about your situation. They will also say something about how they couldn’t imagine their lives without their kids and how terrible it would be. (It makes me feel bad for the people who wanted, but were not to have children.) People are insensitive and cannot imagine someone wanting a life different from their’s. I personally like Andy’s suggestion of sort of blowing off the question and asking how the person’s kids are. It changes the subject and gives the parent a way to help “change your mind”. Also, if it someone I don’t know that well and will never see again, I’ll ask why they are so interested in my sex life! 😉
