I squealed in delight when Tbash started downloading as for the flat white it is a friggin awesome espresso drink and I’ve been getting them at Starbucks since they started advertising them and it changes the entire taste of their espresso which I usually can’t stand and never order but now I’m addicted to it and it’s even superseded my favorite coffee shop which is local here the flat white rocks the ristretto shot is what they use a shot with less water and more espresso

Chasity says:

I’m in the mid-west and have just recently, this year, heard of this flat white coffee at Starbucks..they have just started advertising it. I haven’t tried it, was a little reluctant for fear it would be too bitter, however I have heard great things! The foamed milk acts as a sugar and sweetens it I guess? Anyway, I usually get something different at Starbucks but I am now looking forward to trying this, at least once :)

Cassie says:

I got a flat white today upon your recommendation and must say, it is fucking delicious.

DT says:

Hoo! Andy asked a real big question with the issue of the cheap Argentinian wine….

The global transportation industry is fascinating and if anyone is interested they should check out Marc Levinson’s “The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger.” Bigger ships, cheap oil, lack of ‘polluter pays’ laws…. And we get cheap wine shipped from around the world.

DT says:

Kombucha is explicitly a no-no in the Whole 30, I believe. Sugar is used to feed the mother, but it will always contain a small amount.

The real answer is Bulletproof Coffee. You blend unsalted butter into coffee and it is DELICIOUS [1]! Seriously. It is so creamy you won’t even miss the sugar, in case you’re a sugar-in-coffee person.

[1] The full recipe is coconut oil or MCT oil. I hated it with the former, but some people love it.

Intern Josh says:

I think the problem with that is that she can’t have dairy either. So she could rock the coconut oil one.

DT says:

Oops. You’re right. I thought butter was allowed on the Whole 30. Checking on that led to a whole nutritional can of worms….

Next time you’re sick, you should do a shootout with Thera-Flu vs Alka Seltzer hot cold relief (whatever it’s called) vs the Delsym version.

Christina says:

Cheerwine is a cherry soda like the caller said in the message. My husband and I are from NC too and he likes it much more than me. To me it is like mixing cherry 7UP with a little bit of cherry coke. I would recommended it if you like soda and can find it in your state. Some background info: http://www.cheerwine.com/about.

Jason S says:

As soon as the caller said “Carolina” I said, “Cheerwine”, then she said “I was wondering if you’d ever heard of a drink called” I almost shouted “Cheerwine” at my desk.
I grew up in Florida and we vacationed at relatives’ house in South Carolina, and the first thing we always did upon arrival was drive to the local Piggly Wiggly (yep) and get a huge amount of Cheerwine for the visit and to take home. They even had 3-liter bottles. BTW it’s like Cherry Coke. I have super-fond memories of it, but I don’t know if it’s actually THAT MUCH BETTER than Cherry Coke or if it was just the fact that we could only get it on vacation that made it better. Haven’t had it in about 20 years.

Kim says:

For the listener on the diet, a great option I’ve become obsessed with is LaCroix sparkling water. It comes in a bunch of great flavors like lemon, lime, cran-raspberry, passionfruit, orange, coconut, mango, and more. No sugar, no calories.

Becca says:

I was thinking the same thing! Cherry lime in the skinny cans is my favorite, tied with grapefruit and passion fruit!
