In response to the question about getting gifts/toys for a child and not having enough room, I wanted to share 2 ideas:
1) Instead of spending $ on toys you donβt have room for, try getting entrance tickets or memberships to a local kids gyms/play place/childrens museum so you have a fun place or places to take your child out of your house. That helps a lot with keeping them & you from getting bored π Certifikid is a great website if they are in your area for these types of things.
2) Since itβs the holidays and you might need a gift for your child … I want to promote this amazing organization a Mom in my town started called Little Loving Hands (www.littlelovinghands.com). This is a group that was started to encourage parents & kids to work together and do good for others and she has parlayed it into a national activity. Basically, itβs a subscription service but with a giving touch and super fun for kids. Each month you get a kit in the mail with a craft to do with your child. You also get some material that is made with kids in mind to share the message of why you are making the craft and who is getting it. You make the craft together with the materials, then send it back in a pre-addressed envelope and the organization in turn gives all the crafts to a charity that can use them - like a childrens hospital. My son is only 19 months (similar age to Baby Oprah), so he doesnβt help much yet with the crafts - but we have done 2 of them together and itβs still fun. I am keeping the info about all the ones we do in a shoebox for him so we can look through it when heβs old enough and I can tell him about all the good things for other people we did together. Itβs such an awesome gift - a fun thing to do once/month with your child, it doesnβt require getting more crap to put in your house since you send it away when itβs done, AND you get to teach your child about doing good for other people - seriously a WIN/WIN/WIN scenario.
Hope these ideas help!
Hello !
I would like to share my good bad and funny,
Good- Isabella is doing a great job trying to crawl. I have also taken off a load and decided to not finish school for my masters. This has been a very hard decision, however I do not want to miss a lot in my childβs life. In the mean time I am working full time and working on a blog π
Bad- Isabella fell off the bed and fell into the night stand drawer. My fionceβ left her on the bed, I guess not realizing that she can mobilize. She has a scratch on the front of her head and other parts of her head are bruised. However, she is still acting like the best baby ever.
Funny- Isabellaβs face when she tried a strawberry for the first time. She has gotten used to them, however she does not like then purred alone. π
** I have just started your podcast, and I love it. I listen when I am at work. I listen to all the old stuff, but recently stay updated with the new. Congrats on the new baby π (I know Iβm totally late but Iβm still on podcast 17 π )
When I saw “the year 3000” I thought it might be a reference to that recurring Conan bit, but this was hilarious. Great ep!
Rebekka, sleep is NO JOKE. I get it, all of what you were saying. Oh, how rough it is! The worst is when other people talk about their child sleeping through the night at 8 weeks or not having a clue how hard it makes life when youβve tried everything. The worry in the middle or the night, should I let her cry? Is she hungry? Is it too cold, hot? And then the guilt if I do let her cry, even a little bit. Ug. I hope things improve soon, it took a full 6 weeks of sleep training for my LO and we still have some hiccups. Hang in there, this too shall pass.
These funnies were amazing this week! I was literally busting up with laughter in the car.
