My dad is one of the Coke Zero evangelists out there trying to convince everyone else how great it is. His opening line with literally every server at every restaurant he visits is, “Do you have Coke Zero?” On the rare occasion that he gets an unexpected Yes, he presses his luck by immediately following up with, “Cherry Zero?” I’m pretty confident he’s never found a restaurant that has it. Maybe in a freestyle. Maybe!
I can’t tolerate diet of any kind so you guys might as well have tested 6 cups of Tab this week as far as I was concerned. But a great listen nonetheless.
I’m a loyal listener since episode number uno but I never comment. Thanks to your guys’ podcast, I’ve been branching out and trying new bevvys in my life whenever possible!
I recently went to Houston, TX and randomly ordered a BIG RED FLOAT with vanilla ice cream that was pretty insanely delicious. As a New Yorker, I would’ve had zero idea what Big Red was were it not for you two!
I think my next TBASH-inspired purchase will have to be TJ’s *Organic Breakfast Blend*, as I’ve been a loyal Bay Blend purchaser for the past few years.
Can’t wait for Episode 100 when we finally hear brother-in-law Brian on the show!!
PS Huge congrats on upcoming Baby #1 to Jo-Jo and congrats on Baby Otis to Ro-Ro
Agree that coke life is weird tasting, we just get a case of mexican cokes from costco every once in a while as a treat! Woo cane sugar!
Guys. There’s never a bad episode.
I love when you two get all loopy. Josh got real weird from all the coke this week, in the best way.
Excited for you guys to get that Polar flavor. Need to know what unicorn kisses taste like.
I just wanted to say that I LOVED the Cristal vs. Ace of Spades episode and was blown away by the results. But I’ve been having a hard time figuring out how to express the information I’ve learned. The convo goes something like this:
Me: I hear that Jay-Z’s Ace of Spades champagne is actually way better than Cristal.
Person: How do you know? Were you making it rain at the club over the weekend?
Me: No, there was a blind taste test on this beverage podcast I listen to -
Person: You listen to a podcast about beverages?
Me: Yes. It’s called Totally Beverages and Sometimes Hot Sauce.
Then the conversation inevitably takes a sharp left and becomes about our respective taste in podcasts, or how weird I am for listening to a podcast about beverages, and we never get back to the topic of champagne. Super frustrating.
I can’t tell you how many sentences start with:
Ok, so I listen to this podcast about Beverages….
So. many. sentences, Scareoline. So many. I have heard quite a few other DC-area bevheads call in before, we really should start a support group (even if JoJo’s BroBro isn’t here anymore).
I start an EMBARASSINGLY large amount of conversations with.. “So this I listen to this podcast that’s all about beverages and sometimes about hot sauce..”
I am the worst bevhead. We took a semi spontaneous road trip this weekend, and I wore my tbash shirt, intending to document it visiting many locations. THEN we stayed a second night when we weren’t planning to, so being the 2nd day with only one change of clothes packed (my other shirt was a Meg Myers shirt btw), the tbash shirt came out for a second showing. Problem is, I don’t really do the self thing, and outside it was COLD and rainy so I have my coat on in all the pics my wife took, so I think the total number of times the shirt made an appearance is the same as the number of calories in diet coke. Tonight I’m gonna go through my phone and my wife’s phone and see if there’s anything at all and shoot it to the twitter if there is, but rest assured, the shirt went fossil hunting and to the field of dreams movie set, and various other cool things.
Also, this message board system DOES NOT notify you of replies, but it would be great if it did in my opinion.
*selfie thing. Cmon phone, it’s 2016, don’t autocorrect ‘selfie’. I sometimes do the self thing but that’s another podcast.
Hello from up north!! I can confirm that us in the East Bay Area have an abundance of flavored sparkly waters at our 711’s (we’ve got flavored Perrier, Crystal Geyser, and Pellegrino on the reg). The beloved La Croix just came to my local grocery store and sells out IMMEDIATELY. IT still is not in our typical Safeway or drugstore, which is such a shame.
If you like your flavored sparkly waters and are back on the caffeine kick, I couldn’t recommend Hi Ball enough! It’s the perfect 0 calorie energy drink without added sugar. Maybe I’ll send you some moolah to do a flight soon…
I’m behind on the podcast so I’m commenting late on this but I have to many thoughts. I just paused before the reveal of all the cokes. First of all, when Coke Life came out I was so excited for it until I tried it and I thought it was sooo gross and I was very disappointed and I can’t wait to find out if you guys liked it! Second, I love regular sodas of all kinds and just can’t get behind diet cokes, I’ll take a coke zero if I have to but it’s just not the same, although when I’m anywhere that has fountain soda option I will mix half and half of regular coke and coke zero and I can’t tell the difference.
Also when Josh was talking about spenda and how he doesn’t understand how people use other stuff, that’s how I feel about sweet n low. I think all other fake sugar taste very diety (including splenda) and sweet n low is the only one that tastes like real sugar but places to carry it as much so I have to keep a couple packets in my purse with me for when I get iced tea at restaurants in case they don’t have it.
I always think about commenting but I usually listen to this podcast when I’m getting ready in the morning and during my commute so I always end up forgetting by the time I get to a computer. Last thing, a suggestion I always think about it is I wish you guys would do a palate cleanser of some sort in between each thing you taste because sometimes I think you’re skewing your judgement of what your testing because the taste of the previous beverage is still in your mouth and messing you up. This was a really long comment so who knows if you’ll even read it, anyway GFY!
You know it’s crazy how you guys went back and forth, joking about looking at the cans, because that’s where I keep all my canned coffee videos!: lookatthesecans.com
Really great episode too. I tried Coke Life a while back, and wanted to die. I like Coke Zero, but it leaves the worst aftertaste… even worse than Diet Coke maybe! I’ll have to give the Splenda version a shot soon.
